Work is now underway in a rural Shropshire village on a new housing development, which will see 13 affordable homes built on land owned by Powis Estates.
We are delighted to be working in partnership with the Parish Council, Shropshire Council, and Shropshire Rural Housing Association to meet the significant need for affordable homes in the rural village of Chirbury.
Nestled in gently rolling countryside, Chirbury offers the quintessential rural living experience.
This village has a vibrant community feel, complete with a centuries-old church, traditional village hall and thriving village shop and post office. Known as the Chirbury Shop and Cafe, this bustling community hub offers everything from fresh local produce to artisan gifts and regular special events.
Preference to the new affordable homes, which will be a mix of two, three and four-bedroomed dwellings, will be given to local people.
Speaking on behalf of Powis Estates, Jonathan Herbert, Viscount Clive, said: “Good quality housing is vital to rural communities. I am therefore delighted that after a lot of hard work and planning put in by all the partners, this affordable housing development is now underway.”
“The development is a testament to what can be achieved through strong partnerships, a shared vision and investing in local communities. These homes will ensure a more sustainable future for the village of Chirbury and the wider community.”
Located at the Orchard, Chirbury, the homes will be for social rent with grant funding being provided by Homes England and Shropshire Council.
