The Estate offers excellent accessibility for film crews travelling from across the UK. Located just 30 minutes from Shrewsbury, the national motorway network is accessible within half an hour. Welshpool also benefits from direct rail connections and is home to Mid-Wales Airport, situated just outside the town, offering additional flexibility for travel and logistics.
With acclaimed productions such as Catherine Called Birdy (Amazon Prime), Lucy Worsley Investigates (BBC), and The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin (Apple TV) filmed on the grounds, Powis Estates is a trusted and reliable partner for location shoots.
The Estate offers two spectacular medieval fortresses. The impressive ruins of both Ludlow Castle, in the town of Ludlow in South Shropshire and Montgomery Castle, overlooking the town of Montgomery each offer a wealth of filming opportunities.
We offer a wide variety of infrastructure to suit a range filming requirements, including private roads, heritage farmyards, derelict buildings, and a traditional shooting lodge.
Our Estate consists of a diverse landscape, with pools and waterfalls, disused quarries, agricultural land, ancient natural woodlands and forestry, and a private deer park and parkland just some of the varied scenery we offer.
