Winsbury Dairy has been farmed by five generations of the Beavan family since 1921. The family farm is led by Rob Beaven and his daughter Ellie, who is a self-confessed, born-and-bred dairy farm aficionado.
Ellie has taken the family business in a new direction by supplying premium farm-fresh milk and milkshakes directly to shops, pubs, and restaurants from Welshpool to Shrewsbury to Ironbridge and many more places in between.
Building on this, the family have also recently acquired The Shropshire Ice Cream Company, with the ice cream being made from Winsbury Dairy milk and cream.
In the summer months, sweet serves from The Shropshire Ice Cream Company will be sold via a converted vintage caravan, and the team are looking forward to getting this out as much as possible in the warmer months ahead!
Read on to discover why Winsbury Dairy produces some of the best, freshest and creamiest frozen treats in the UK, and where else you can find their produce.
The milk from Winsbury Dairy has won a Gold Award from the International Cheese and Dairy Awards, making it the top in the world for all liquid milk. Winsbury Dairy also snapped up the Bronze Award for their double cream.
More awards were won in 2023, including both 1 and 2 Stars from the Great Taste Awards, the world’s largest and most trusted food and drink accreditation scheme.
The source of this great-tasting, premium quality milk is, of course, the Holstein Frisian Norwegian cross dairy cows, who are living their best lives at Winsbury Dairy Farm.
Freely roaming and grazing the lushest fields in the region, these grass-fed cows are bred for longevity, not maximum yields, meaning they live less labour-intensive lives. It seems very clear that happy cows make award-winning milk!
Milkshakes are a huge part of the Winsbury Dairy brand and really come into their own during the warmer months, with the mobile milkshake vending trailer venturing around the country.
Most summer weekends, the trailer can be found pouring out Winsbury’s delicious award-winning milk at agricultural fairs, universities, seaside locations, private events, and of course, iconic food festivals like The Royal Welsh Show, The Great Yorkshire Show and Aintree.
There are even more treats in store for those local to Shropshire.
You can find a well-stocked fridge full of fresh milk on the Winsbury Dairy farm itself, where locals and visitors alike can pick up milk and thick double cream, literally straight from the cow. A vending machine for milkshakes with regular and limited edition flavours has also been recently added.
This enables locals to visit the farm directly to source their farm fresh milk and try out one of Winsbury Dairy’s delicious flavoured milkshakes. It is recommended you drink their fresh dairy products within three days to keep on the safe side.
Powis Estates has proudly supported the Beavan family for well over 100 years. With Ellie Beavan’s arm of the business going from strength to strength, we are delighted to have what is becoming a recognisable national brand, right on our doorstep.
